Job Description:

The (.4) Part-time Elementary - Visual Art Teacher will develop students' artistic skills by implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; developing lesson plans; modeling the necessary skills to performing assigned tasks; providing a safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc. This is a (.4) Part-time Licensed Elementary 10-month, 195 day Teacher position, reporting to the School Principal.

Qualifications:

• Education : A Bachelors Degree from an Accredited College or University in a Related Field Required, Master's Degree Preferred.

• Certificates & Licenses : Valid Virginia Department of Education Teaching Provisional, Collegiate, or PostGraduate License, with an endorsement in Visual Arts PreK-12, or eligibility to obtain the Teaching License with the appropriate endorsement upon hiring.

Essential Functions:

• Administers subject specific assessment and test for the purpose of assessing the level of students' competencies.

• Advises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of communicating expectations; student's achievements; developing methods for improvement and/or reinforcing classroom goals in the home environment.

• Assesses student progress towards objectives, expectations, and/or goals (e.g. artistic skills and abilities, etc.) for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents and administration.

• Collaborates with instructional staff, other school personnel, parents and a variety of community resources for the purpose of improving the overall quality of student outcomes, achieving established classroom objectives in support of the school improvement plan.
