fibre-machine-tender Occupational skill for the role 'fibre machine tender' (also: forming machine setter, fibre machine operator, glass fibre machine operator, extruding and forming machine setter, staple fibre machine tender, fiber extruding machine operator). Use when the user asks for typical fibre machine tender work such as: Set up, operate, or tend machines that extrude and form filaments from synthetic materials such as rayon, fiberglass, or liquid polymers.; Load materials into extruding and forming machines, using hand tools, and adjust feed mechanisms to set feed rates.; Move controls to activate and adjust extruding and forming machines.

Fibre Machine Tender

Fibre machine tenders operate and maintain extrusion machines that form sliver from filaments. They work with synthetic materials such as fiberglass or liquid polymer or non-synthetic materials such as rayon.

Core workflow

  1. Set up, operate, or tend machines that extrude and form filaments from synthetic materials such as rayon, fiberglass, or liquid polymers.
  2. Load materials into extruding and forming machines, using hand tools, and adjust feed mechanisms to set feed rates.
  3. Move controls to activate and adjust extruding and forming machines.
  4. Record details of machine malfunctions.
  5. Notify other workers of defects, and direct them to adjust extruding and forming machines.
  6. Press buttons to stop machines when processes are complete or when malfunctions are detected.
  7. Observe machine operations, control boards, and gauges to detect malfunctions such as clogged bushings and defective binder applicators.
  8. Clean and maintain extruding and forming machines, using hand tools.
