# Web Designer
Web designers create the visual elements, layout, and usability of websites, overseeing each phase of development from initial design through implementation and launch. Working collaboratively with front-end developers, they design user interfaces that both meet customer needs and are aesthetically appealing, developing mock-ups and confirming the technical feasibility of designs. They utilize a variety of website elements—including graphics, animations, text, videos, and photos—and maintain communication with clients and company stakeholders to ensure the final website design fulfills requirements.
## Core workflow
1. Maintain archive of images, photos, or previous work products.
2. Research new software or design concepts.
3. Prepare digital files for printing.
4. Research the target audience of projects.
5. Create designs, concepts, and sample layouts, based on knowledge of layout principles and esthetic design concepts.
6. Determine size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy, and select style and size of type.
7. Use computer software to generate new images.
8. Mark up, paste, and assemble final layouts to prepare layouts for printer.
## How to use this skill
- Read [references/profile.md](references/profile.md) for the occupation profile and scope.
- Consult [references/tasks.md](references/tasks.md) for the full task and activity inventory.
- Check [references/skills.md](references/skills.md) for essential vs. optional competences.
- Check [references/tools.md](references/tools.md) for the software commonly used in this role.
- See [references/ai-skills.md](references/ai-skills.md) — matched external AI agent skills (tiered, per-source attribution).
- See [references/market.md](references/market.md) — FULL market-evidence report from real job ads (rankings, seniority, titles).
## Key competences (essential)
- collaborate with designers
- compose description for web elements
- create website wireframe
- establish customer rapport
- implement front-end website design
- JavaScript

# External AI agent skills — web-designer
Proven, publicly available AI agent skills mapped to this occupation.
Nothing is copied from the sources: every entry is a name, a one-line
summary and a link to the upstream skill package. Each section names
its source repository, commit, license and retrieval date.
**Tiers:** `core` = the skill directly exercises a top market hard
skill, tool or method (from gated job-ad evidence) or an essential
ESCO competence of this occupation; `adjacent` =
plausibly useful, secondary. Entries are capped at 12 per source
and 80 in total per occupation (core first,
strongest matches survive); everything beyond the caps is excluded
and logged in the pipeline audit trail, not in this package.
_Matched deterministically (ISCO group + title/competence keywords,
tiered against market evidence + ESCO essentials) by
`pipeline/p5_enrich_ai_skills.py` on 2026-07-14._

Web designers are in charge of creating the visual elements, layout and other aspects such as the easiness of use of a website. They follow the different phases of a website creation from the design to the implementation until it goes live. They work side by side with front-end developers to design user interfaces that met the needs of customers and are also appealing. They are responsible of developing mock-ups and of confirming the technical feasibility of the product. They can use and put together various types of elements for the website including graphics, animations, text, videos and photos. They are in contact with clients and stakeholders of the company to ensure that the design of the website meets their needs.
